I think hiding the clock is a bad idea as a user may want to manually run sdwdate to adjust it if it's out of whack before initiating internet traffic. (This is on non-Qubes versions lacking auto time adjust)

Browser tests are problematic generally.
Tor Browser has a feature effectively limit that, no? Or do you mean
localized Tor Browser's for non-English have different fonts? That seems
plausible, but is it a fact?

Since changing from kde to gnome is not so simple, since many packages have to be changed (kde vs gnome, jessie vs stretch), I think it's best to delay this change and implement it when porting Whonix to Debian version 9 codename Stretch.

I don't think we should encourage users to set time zones because it can give away their geo location both for an adversary in the VM and for timestamp leaks by applications in the WS.
