64bit vs 32bit
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

64 vs 32 vs pae vs i686 amd-intel etc is confusing to the user.

Can we go all 64bit? 32 is less and less common, and Whonix has never targeted low end hardware.

I believe that we'll benefit more from simplicity (64-bit only) than compatibility.

There's a documentation issue: where do we tell the user how many bits we are? We could tie ourselves in knots naming files and putting big notices on the wiki, but I don't think it will make a difference. 64 bits is the new default and users shouldn't have to worry about it.
