It just means a text which gets append to each and every post. Whenever possible (usually just classic forums, forums other than discourse) allow it.
Even if just a small signature is allowed, configure one. Because later when account matures, changing the signature will usually change it in all old posts as well.
They don't accept any HTML or Image preview signature e.g:

in wilderssecurity case i doesnt work, maybe just text or so?
will use it as a reference if i face one, but sadly those days of signatures seems to be gone.
